Individual Adult Counselling

Individual adult counselling is a traditional one to one counselling of adults where the client and the therapist sit in a room together. Individual counselling is a collaborative effort between you and a therapist, with a view to providing a relaxed, caring, supportive and confidential environment for you to address the issues that are troubling you.

You might have a goal or a problem in mind that you are looking to work on. It could be a relationship problem or difficulty with sustaining or forming friendships, self-esteem or confidence problems, or maybe you are suffering from anxiety and excessive worry or feeling ‘down in the dumps’ or depressed.

Please note that I do not provide counselling services to children.

The cost of individual counselling and psychotherapy is €70 per session.

The place of counselling is at 33 South Main Street, Naas East, Naas, County Kildare, W91 C9ER.

I also offer Online counselling over Zoom.

Online Counselling

Online counselling is similar to one-to-one counselling with the exception that the client and the therapist are not in the same room. This suits some people and among other benefits, it can save you time from travelling to a therapist’s office and allow you to experience counselling from the comfort of your own home. It might be that for one reason or another, you prefer the seclusion of your own home or value better privacy that online therapy may provide. It can also be down to reduced mobility, low immunity and health reasons, or whilst working with a therapist who is geographically distant.

Online counselling can mean therapy via video applications where communication is both verbal and visual and is conducted in real-time via the internet. This can be done, for example, using programs such as Zoom or WhatsApp. Clients report that after some short time it is the same experience as working with a therapist face to face.

Some clients prefer telephone counselling, where the context is a verbal exchange between the client and therapist in real-time.

I also utilise E-mail counselling, which is a private confidential written communication between the client and therapist where there is a delayed response. This may suit some clients’ specific circumstances as messages can be composed and sent at any time by either client or the therapist.

Telephone and E-mail counselling are at a disadvantage to video online sessions as some of the therapeutic experience may be lost using these channels, however they may suit some clients’ individual circumstances.

The cost of online therapy is €70 per session.

Walk & Talk Therapy

Walk and talk therapy is just like regular counselling and psychotherapy with the exception that it takes place outdoors, combining nature, movement and therapy. Many clients find it difficult to talk about painful issues face on so walking side by side provides a calmer experience to embrace therapy. Good weather, fresh air and movement are all added benefits to therapy.

Walk and talk therapy is available in around County Kildare. Some of the recommended areas are: Digby Bridge walk, Clane Liffey walk, Sallins Canal walk, Naas Old Railway walk, Curragh grounds, Killinthomas Woods, Donadea Forest Park. I can also come to a location of your choice.

The cost of a walk and talk therapy is €70 per session.

Walk and talk therapy is currently unavailable.

Relationship Counselling

Our mental health and wellbeing are tied up in the quality of our relationships. Furthermore, problems in our close relationships, or a lack of one, are the reason why most clients arrive in therapy in the first place. The more closely we are connected to the people we love, the happier we feel and the more satisfaction we have in our lives. Whether romantic or familial relationships, friendships or wider groups and communities we belong to, many of these important relationships pose challenges at some point in our lives.

I offer relationship counselling to individuals and couples.

There might be many behaviours resulting from internal circumstances as to why couples may arrive at therapy, for example, blame, anger, bitterness, criticism, resentfulness, sarcasm, name-calling. External life factors such as getting married, redundancy, illnesses, the birth of a child, difficulties with a child, infertility, bereavement, disabilities, mental illnesses (e.g. depression or anxiety) and so on can also put tremendous strain on relationships.

Together we can get to the bottom of emotional pain, learn to communicate better, improve managing conflict and work on areas such as restoring connection, building trust, boundaries, attending to individual and couple needs, and much more. I will facilitate an exploration and exchange of perspectives with a view to intercept and change the cycle of disconnecting. Together we will work towards creating a cycle of connection, by listening and understanding the true emotional needs of each partner, and by clarifying and communicating your wants and needs.

Counselling can also help if you are going through a break-up, or are single and struggling to maintain intimate relationships. Together we can look at old patterns that are holding you back and start to identify ways to create more need-satisfying relationships.

The cost of couples counselling is €85 and the duration of sessions 60 minutes.

The place of counselling is at 33 South Main Street, Naas East, Naas, County Kildare, W91 C9ER.

I also offer Online counselling over Zoom.
