Relationship Counselling

Our mental health and wellbeing are tied up in the quality of our relationships. Furthermore, problems in our close relationships, or a lack of one, are the reason why most clients arrive in therapy in the first place. The more closely we are connected to the people we love, the happier we feel and the more satisfaction we have in our lives. Whether romantic or familial relationships, friendships or wider groups and communities we belong to, many of these important relationships pose challenges at some point in our lives.

I offer relationship counselling to individuals and couples.

There might be many behaviours resulting from internal circumstances as to why couples may arrive at therapy, for example, blame, anger, bitterness, criticism, resentfulness, sarcasm, name-calling. External life factors such as getting married, redundancy, illnesses, the birth of a child, difficulties with a child, infertility, bereavement, disabilities, mental illnesses (e.g. depression or anxiety) and so on can also put tremendous strain on relationships.

Together we can get to the bottom of emotional pain, learn to communicate better, improve managing conflict and work on areas such as restoring connection, building trust, boundaries, attending to individual and couple needs, and much more. I will facilitate an exploration and exchange of perspectives with a view to intercept and change the cycle of disconnecting. Together we will work towards creating a cycle of connection, by listening and understanding the true emotional needs of each partner, and by clarifying and communicating your wants and needs.

Counselling can also help if you are going through a break-up, or are single and struggling to maintain intimate relationships. Together we can look at old patterns that are holding you back and start to identify ways to create more need-satisfying relationships.

The cost of couples counselling is €85 and the duration of sessions 60 minutes.

The place of counselling is at 33 South Main Street, Naas East, Naas, County Kildare, W91 C9ER.

I also offer Online counselling over Zoom.
